Becoming a Demi-God

So you aren't satisfied being a mere mortal? You've come to the right place my friend :) The guide is not a walk-through nor a tutorial on all the details but is intended for advanced players who are looking for ways to become simply, ridiculously powerful.

Welcome to Svendre's guide to becoming a Demi-God.

What you will need: Evade Traps, Ghastify, Diagnose + Spare, Posess + Spare,

Helpful: Clean Kill, Utility Staff, Ressurect (obtain with staff of life then poly it to a utility staff), Preserve

Optional: Transfer Knowledge, Lots of polymorph wands and/or mana potions

Super Bonus: Artifact with blind intrinsic

Our quest begins on the plane of the tri-dudes. Our target is the unique purple tri-dude. Why you ask? Because he is 1) physically immune, 2) breathless, 3) level 34 caster. So what is the plan for him? Either body swap into him and then learn ghastify and ghastify yourself (a bit harder but doable) or more easily...if you have 70 mana, ghastify, ressurect and clean kill:

  • Whack him out while keeping 70 mana or at least with 10 and preserve.
  • Ressurect him (he will be at death's gate)
  • Ghastify him
  • Body swap into him (see power gaming guide for details or other guides - two consecutive posessions)

Now add all the standard resistances: fire, cold, acid, shock, unchanging. poison.. who needs it now because you are physically immune... breathless.. you already have it.. What, no freedom? well yes it is a bit rare, but if something freezes you in your tracks... muaha who cares... you're unkillable.

Wait, did I say unkillable? Oh, almost unkillable.. that is, unless you got the super bonus item with blind intrinsic, now not even light can kill you! So are you totally invulnerable now? So far the only thing I can think of that might hurt you is if you were to fall into a pit that evade traps did not work on (or a creature with fetch falls in a pit and summons you) that was next to a pool of acid which filled the pit and destroyed your equipment. This is pretty unlikely, particularly if you scout out a level in advance and/or it has no acid pools anywhere and no creatures that I know of actually create acid pools.

Are you a Demi-God yet? Not quite yet... you might notice while nothing can hurt you and although you can cast quite well.. you hit like a little girl! Why, you might wonder? Simple: your body level is only level 4 and this is used to compute how often and effectively how hard you wind up hitting. With your total combined level 4 body and 34 level mind it is also quite tough to gain levels so that you can work on your melee damage. Also, your mana level seems to be a bit stuck as you are a ghast and you can not eat all the juicy mana corpses.

Polymorph to the rescue!

Preserve and stack up all those juicy lich, soul sucker and kobold mage corpses polymorph into something else and feed away.

Oh, and yes.. I have done all this - WITH a blindness artifact, it is quite amusing!

It should be noted that if you wish to access Belweir's Library, a ghastified purple tri-dude cannot interact with the magically sealed door because of its Intelligence (or lack thereof) it would be wise to open it preemptively. As for non-magic doors, you can simply cast Knock/Force Bolt. --Demi 17:06, 18 December 2015 (PST)

How about levels?

Super Demi-God Extreme:

You could polymorph into something lower level and get close to 1000 xp then switch back and tag a critter or two, bing! This could be somewhat tedious though unless you have tons of wands or you like hitting the R key over and over using rings. I have thought of some other techniques although I have not tested them yet. One idea is to park your body in a relatively safe spot and continually posess a lower level familiar or pet who gathers xp then uses transfer knowledge back to your purple-ghast before the pet levels. In this manner even if you are level 190 you should still keep getting relatively fast blocks of 250xp.

I haven't done this because after having become immortal.... I knew I had all the time in the world, so what's the rush? (manic laugh)
