This is a maze level, but the central area has several large rooms and corridors, inhabited by the Cretan Minotaur. There is a fair bit of treasure in the central area, but the real prize is carried by the Minotaur itself -- a Glowing Y-Rune, which allows you to pass through dimensional gateways. As it happens, there's one of those down on Floor 20...
