Introduction
Skills are essential for playing any character in POWDER. They are passive abilities that augment the character. Some improve combat ability or armor effectiveness, others provide abilities which work automatically in their proper context. Note the "criss-cross" organization of weapon and armor skills, such that any given item can have up to two core skills apply to it.
General Skills
These divide into food-related, attack, and defensive skills.
Endure Hunger | Charge | Dodge |
Butchery | Leap Attack | Moving Target |
Clean Kill | Dual Wield | Search |
Ambidextrous | Evade Traps |
Core Weapon Skills
Generally, one from each column applies.
Small Weapons | Blunt Weapons
Medium Weapons | Edged Weapons
Large Weapons | Pointed Weapons
Ranged Weapons | Improvised Weapons |
Special Weapon Skills
Each of these skills applies to a single weapon type, including any silver or "elemental" versions. Each requires both core skills for that weapon.
Bleeding Wounds (Dagger, melee) | Disarm (Rapier) | Impale (Spear, melee) |
Riposte (Short Sword) | True Aim (Knife, thrown) | Ricochet (Arrow) |
Parry (Long Sword) | Knock Out (Club) | Stun (Mace) |
Knockback (Warhammer) |
Armour Skills
Again, one from each column applies. The only real choices here are iron vs. exotic heavy armour, and whether you like shields.
Body Armour | Cloth Armour
Boots | Leather Armour | |
Helmets | Iron Armour | |
Shields | Exotic Armour |
